Mortgage Is up Soon – Comparison Sites a Good Option?

Mortgage is up soon – comparison sites a good option?

My mortgage is up for renewal early February and I’m starting to review my options. To be honest I’m not even sure I’ll qualify for a new mortgage with the recent financial fall out. At least two couples I know have had to stick on their present variable rate in order to just keep their home . . . Their Bank’s felt that they couldn’t offer a better deal and the other mortgage companies they tried were just not willing to help.

I think that that’s a really scary situation, when a Bank or Building society who two years previously was happy to offer you a loan or mortgage reverses their lending criteria . . . it makes you feel a bit scummy really! In know the financial situation has changed but my income and outgoings are still the same, I’ve not done anything stupid and I don’t have very high levels of personal debt . . . so what’s the problem?!

Anyway, I’m almost scared to go direct to my Bank just in-case they decide to remove my mortgage altogether. I mean, who knows, by going to them I might be asking for trouble!

I’ve tried a couple of financial comparison sites and I’ve also tried a few online mortgage brokers. They’ve all taken my details and personal financials but to be honest I’m not holding out too much hope! One or two mortgage advisers came back to me with initial figures but most said it was all down to the lender reviewing my credit score. One adviser even told me that they couldn’t help me!
