The father of the bride also plays an important role in the wedding. In keeping with tradition, the father is the supporter and protector of his daughter. However, his relationship with his family, as well as his financial situation determines just how big or small his role will be.

He may be a traditional father, demanding respect, and expecting that he will have a major role in his daughters wedding. He may however feel the opposite of this, in that he does not want much or any involvement in the plans of the wedding. If the father wishes to be a part of the planning, he has certain roles to fulfill. These would include but are not limited to: providing emotional and financial support to the bride, father of the bride speech, wedding planning, keeping the bride relaxed and calm before the ceremony, escorting the bride to the place of worship, and walking with her up the aisle on his right arm.

He must stand on her left on the chancel steps. The minister will ask who gives this woman away, and the father will answer? I do? He than may take the brides right hand, and give it to the minister, who will than give it to the groom. He will than stand quietly in position, until the vows have been exchanged, in which he’ll than return to the pew on the left side of the church. The custom remains traditional for both parents to witness the signing of the register.

The father of the bride will play a key role with his daughters wedding. With traditional walk up the aisle, plans of the wedding and the father of the bride speech at the reception. All this work is custom for the father and traditional wedding for his daughter will go over well planned.

In this conclusion message, we see that a sexual relationship between a married couple is ordained by God. This relationship may have problems later on in life. These problems do not occur because of a love relationship is lost but rather a loss of ability of the body.
We must look at 1Co 7:5; “Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.” The key words in 1Co 7:5, “with consent”. Maintaining a sexual relationship is important in a relationship, but there comes times when a man and a woman become unable to preform these actions because of health or just age.
We see this in the relationship between Abraham and Sarah. Gen 17:17 Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is an hundred years old? and shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear? Gen 18:12 Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?

Brns. Gen 18:12 - Sarah laughed within herself - It was not a laughter of faith, like Abraham’s, Gen_17:17, but a laughter of doubting and distrust. The great objection which Sarah could not get over was her age. I am waxed old, and past child - bearing in a course of nature, especially having been hitherto barren, and which magnifies the difficulty, My lord is old also. Observe here, That Sarah calls Abraham her lord, and the Holy Ghost takes notice of it to her honour, and recommends it to the imitation of all Christian wives, 1Pe_3:6. Sarah obeyed Abraham calling him lord, in token of respect and subjection.

The statement in  1Co 7:5, is not a commandment but a suggestion from God thru the Apostle Paul.                                                                         We say this because of what is stated afterwards;
1Co 7:6 But I speak this by permission, and not of commandment. “by permission” brns. This word means “indulgence,” or “permission,” and stands opposed to that which is expressly enjoined; compare 1Co_7:25. “I am ‘allowed’ to say this; I have no express command on the subject; I give it as my opinion; I do not speak it directly under the influence of divine inspiration;” see 1Co_7:10, 1Co_7:25, 1Co_7:40. Paul here does not claim to be under inspiration in these directions which he specifics. But this is no argument against his inspiration in general, but rather the contrary. 1Co 7:6 -
by: 1Co_7:12, 1Co_7:25; 2Co_8:8, 2Co_11:17

1Co 7:8 I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I. The Apostle Paul was not married, but his advice for the married and unmarried are words from the Father, by permission, and not of commandment.
1Co 7:9 But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn. “if they cannot contain” is speaking of a sexual relationship before marriage.
“for it is better to marry than to burn.” Speaking of the desire of the flesh and also of the penalty of sex before marriage, fornication.
1Co 7:29  But this I say, brethren, the time is short: it remaineth, that both they that have wives be as though they had none;
1Co 7:29, is speaking of the end days, where it will be all a man and a woman can do, to remained saved, to remain solely concentrated on God. Sex at this point and time for Christians will be a low priority, but rather their priority will be on worship.
Mal 2:15 And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.
Mal 2:16 For the LORD, the God of Israel, saith that he hateth putting away: for one covereth violence with his garment, saith the LORD of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously.

Mal 2:17 Ye have wearied the LORD with your words. Yet ye say, Wherein have we wearied him? When ye say, Every one that doeth evil is good in the sight of the LORD, and he delighteth in them; or, Where is the God of judgment?
Dealing with sex is a matter of wisdom and knowledge, in Gods word. We cannot continue to have random sex between, the unmarried and the fornication of same sex couples. We cannot accept these types of lifestyles, we cannot say that these things will be ok, or that they were born this way, for these are the lies of Satan. These things or should I say relationships, bring about, pain, heart ache, disease, trouble and damnation, for after sin is conceived it brings forth death.
This world is coming to and end. God will accept you as you are, but He refuses to allow you to continue in the ways of sin. We deal with sex as a part of our very exsistance, ordained by God as a union between, a married, man and a woman. We can take the dirtiness of sex out, with instruction and education, we can remove the sexual sins by raising our children in the knowledge of Lord.
In my opinion, we have almost lost an entire generation to lack of teaching, knowledge and instruction. We are losing many thru the, shows, books and commercials that bombard our nation and our children that state that all sex is ok. Accepting these lies will lead to damnation. Ars.

So much for peace and good will towards men. So much for; Forgive them fore, They know not what they do! since it appears mankind still does not get it. So much for the quote; You cannot simultaneously prepare and prevent war. Some folks will never learn.

Perhaps we should allow mankind to repeat its warring way and past periods. Happy Easter Indeed; Iran now is making nuclear weapons to Blow Israel Off the Map? Here we go again, round and round she goes like a bad Hollywood “B” movie re-run.

We must allow Iran to have nuclear weapons to give to the international terrorist groups they sponsor. This way these Muslim terrorists will have nuclear weapons for attacks? But since it might be a few years until Iran has them, we should give them some of the US stockpile, so they can have a nuclear deterrent, because they are such nice and wonderful people and Islam is a wonderful and peaceful way of life which all Muslims should be? Should be? Proud of? Yah that’s it, that’s the ticket.

Very proud of killing innocent people. Isn’t that special. Wake up World, we have a major culture clash and it is nothing close to peaceful and we need to stop pretending. We are watching a build up of weapons to WW III and if unless you are blind and cannot see, it is time to back track this rhetoric and back off this pace towards war. Consider all this in 2006.

Jesus Christ was born to be a king. He will rule as king of kings in the Kingdom of God. Where will Jesus Christ rule in the Kingdom of God? Will the Kingdom of God be in heaven? What territory is included in the Kingdom of God?

The Bible has many places that show that the Kingdom of God is to be set up on this earth. For example, Revelation 11:15 states as follows:

“15And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.” (KJV)

Yes, Jesus Christ is going to take over all of the kingdoms and other governments of this world. He will rule over the entire earth. His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom that will never be destroyed or overthrown.

In Acts 1:10-11, Luke records that angels said that Jesus Christ will return to the earth in the same way that he ascended to heaven after his resurrection:

“10And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel

“11Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.” (KJV)

Jesus Christ will return to the earth to set up the Kingdom of God. The prophet Zechariah records in Zechariah 14:4 that the feet of the Lord will stand on the Mount of Olives near Jerusalem. He also states that the Lord will be king over all the earth in Zechariah 14:9:

“9And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one.” (KJV)

Isaiah 2:2-4 tells us that many nations will come up to Jerusalem to learn from the Lord:

“2And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD’s house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.

“3And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

“4And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.” (KJV)

The Bible uses mountains as symbols of nations. The Kingdom of God will be over all nations. The capital city of the Kingdom of God will be the holy city of Jerusalem. Jesus Christ will teach all people his ways that bring peace and blessings. War colleges and military academies will no longer exist. War will be a thing of the past as all nations begin to apply God’s way of love in the Kingdom of God.

Jesus Christ himself said in the sample prayer that he gave his disciples, which is often called The Lord’s Prayer, that his followers are to pray “Thy Kingdom Come” (Matthew 6:10) Yes, Christians are to pay that the Kingdom of God will come to the earth. Christians are not to pray that they will go to heaven.

The Kingdom of God is coming to this earth to rule all nations and restore the earth to a place of beauty and peace. That is indeed good news.

What is faithbooking? While there are different definitions of what faithbooking means, it is simply incorporating your faith throughout your scrapbooks. A few common meanings may include:

A means to express our faith. A journey of faith. The ability to capture life’s lessons that God teaches us. An eternal legacy for our children. A witnessing tool. An incredible, permanent reminder of our God Moment and His hand in our lives. Scripture, thoughts, prayers, blessings, memories, letters, and stories combines with our photographs to always remember our personal and spiritual journey with the Lord.

Why should you start faithbooking? Because we are commanded to. Throughout the Bible, we are commanded to remember. Remember the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord. Psalm 78:4 We are also told to teach. Teach them to your children…Dt. 4:9 Teach them the right way to live…1 Kings 8:36 There are many more scripture verses that tell us to remember and teach. What better way to remember and to teach then with faithbooking! Remember and teach through your journaling and scripture verses then enhance with photos and embellishments.

If you currently scrapbook, don’t wait to finish your current scrapbook album to start faithbooking. For me, they are onemin the same. I like to incorporate my faith throughout my scrapbooks as one. They are not two separate projects. Always start your faithbook in prayer. Then you can start simply by adding scripture and verses to capture the theme of the layout and then progress into journaling more thought provoking faith questions.

If scrapbooking is not your thing, then consider keeping a journal. Express your feelings on paper and then share the portions you want with others as you feel led. Remember there is not a right or wrong way to faithbook-just get started today!

Yom Kippur is also called The Day of Atonement. Leviticus 16:30-31; Leviticus 23:27-28, 31-32; and Numbers 29:7 speak of it. Yom Kippur is also referred to by various themes and idioms: Face to Face, The Day (or the Great Day), The Fast, The Great Shofar, and Neilah (the closing of the gates). On the tenth of Tishrei the high priest shall conduct a special ceremony to purge defilement from the shrine and from the people. The heart of the ritual is that the high priest shall bring a bull and two goats as a special offering.

First, the bull is sacrificed to purge the shrine from any defilements caused by misdeeds of the priest himself and of his household. Secondly, one of the goats is chosen by lot to be sacrificed to purge the shrine of any similar defilement stimulated by misdeeds of the whole Israelite people. Finally, the second goat is sent away not sacrificed, to cleanse the people themselves. The goat is marked for Azazel and is sent away to wander in the wilderness. Before the goat is sent out, the high priest lays both his hands upon its head and confesses over it all the iniquities and transgressions of the Israelites, whatever their misdeeds, and so putting them on the head of the goat. Thus, the Torah adds, “The goat shall carry on it all their iniquities to an inaccessible region…”

The Hebrew word for scapegoat is azazel. Azazel was seen as a type of satan in the intertestamental Book of Enoch (8:1). The sins of the people and thus the punishment of the people were laid upon azazel, the scapegoat. He would bear the sins of the people and punishment of the people would be upon him. Azazel being sent into the wilderness is understood to be a picture of satan being cast into the lake of fire (Revelation 19:20).

Messianic Understanding God gave the ceremony of the casting of lots during Yom Kippur to teach us how He will judge the nations of the world prior to the Messianic age known as the Millennium. The nations of the world will be judged according to how they treated the Jewish people. Those nations who mistreated the Jews will be goat nations and they will go into the left hand. Those nations that stood beside the Jewish people will be sheep nations and will enter into the Messianic kingdom or the Millennium (Matthew 25:31-46).

Jesus is our High Priest. In John 20:17, Yeshua said, “Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to My Father…” These were the same words that the priest spoke before he ascended the altar. Yeshua can be seen as Priest by looking at some other Scriptures. In Numbers 19:11, if you touched a dead body, you were unclean for seven days. After being unclean, purification took place on the eighth day. This is the meaning behind what happened in John 20:24-27. Rather than wearing his usual robe and colorful garments, Aaron was commanded to wear special garments of linen. Yeshua was seen wearing the same thing in Revelation 1:13-15. Daniel also saw this and described it in Daniel 10:5-6. (Bonus scripture Numbers 15: 37-41 regarding fringes which were to remind the people of the Torah or God’s Word. Consider the woman with the issue of blood and relate her faith in God’s Word–Jesus–to heal her.)

Therefore, when the high priest stood before God on this day, he was said to be “face to face” with God. Because of this, Yom Kippur became known by the phrase “face to face.” “Face to face” terminology was used in First Corinthians 13:9-12. Both verse 11 and the phrase in verse 12, “For now we see through a glass, darkly” come from the Jewish Midrash.

Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, comes on the tenth day of the Jewish month of Tishrei (September/October). It is the last day of the Ten Days of Repentance, and it is the most solemn day of the Jewish calendar. It is believed that those who have not been good enough to be written in the Book of Life immediately on Rosh HaShanah are given ten days to repent, pray for forgiveness, and do good deeds until Yom Kippur, when their fate will be decided. The entire Day of Forgiveness is spent fasting and praying. Because this day is the most solemn day in the year, it is known as “The Day.”

Conclusion The Day of Atonement was the most solemn of all the feast days. It was the day of cleansing for the nation and for the sanctuary. On this day alone, once a year, the high priest entered into the holiest of all, the Holy of Holies in the temple, within the veil of the temple, with the blood of the Lord’s goat, the sin offering. Here he sprinkled the blood on the mercy seat. The blood of the sin offering on the great Day of Atonement brought about the cleansing of all sin for the priesthood, the sanctuary, and Israel as a nation.

The year of Jubilee was the Day of Atonement (Leviticus 25:9-11). This was a year and day of liberty. Yeshua came to preach this liberty at His first coming. From Adam, it has been almost 6,000 years and 120 Jubilees. The number 120 points to the end of the age of the flesh and the reign of the life of the spirit (Genesis 6:3). The ultimate fulfillment of the year of Jubilee will take place at the second coming of Messiah. The earth will be redeemed and come into full and complete rest from the curse brought upon it by Adam’s sin. Complete restoration of man’s lost inheritance will take place. God’s people will be totally set free–set at liberty, from all sin, sickness and disease, death, and the curse. Satan, the source of all these things, will be bound and true rest will be realized. The tabernacle of God will be with men and He will dwell with them. So, the year of Jubilee and the day of Atonement speak of the fullness of the redemptive plan of God for man.

This is no bosh shot. Jesus Christ has “appeared” in court for trial. This controversial man has refused to exit the news headlines. It is either that he was born December 25 or not. Or that he performed miracles or not. It has also been argued as to whether he resurrected or not. Is he God or the son of God? Is it true that his mother, Mary, was conceived by the Holy Spirit, without conjugation? You decide! A church priest even labeled him a “hypocrite” and “trickster.”

Presently, the focus is on whether Jesus was a fictional, or non-fictional, character. Now, listen up: A court judge has been saddled with the responsibility to decide if the man who died about two hundred years ago ever existed, or set foot, on earth. Moreover, the scene of this drama is Italy, the home of Roman Catholic Church, the most populous religion in the world. And this church is headed by the pope, the veritable Vicar of Christ who never lived! (Play me Sitting on Edge.)

At his trial before High Priest Joseph Caiaphas and Governor Pontius Pilate when he was alive, Christ had no attorneys. But in this celebrated case, lawyers on both sides are busy marshalling arguments in court as to whether he lived or not, before bemused onlookers. (Trust the learned men in wigs and gowns.) But how did it all begin?

Shopping for womens lingerie can be unquestionably one of the scariest jobs to embark on. If you don?t search out the right information or have earlier knowledge getting ladies seductive lingerie, it can be utterly traumatic and confusing. For the most part there is an exceptionally large collection of women’s lingerie merchandise to make a choice from, with differing varieties, styles, colours & sizes and 2nd, you would have to go through a great deal of bother and discomforting times when trying to check each & every lingerie product that tickles your fancy. Last but not least, if you do not get the best suggestions in buying womens lingerie, particularly designer women’s lingerie, its exceedingly plausible that you could spend a lot for a single lingerie product that perchance would not look perfect on them.

Hence, before you go darting off to your closest womens lingerie shop, here are a range of tremendously important advice that would in fact make shopping for womens sexy lingerie much simpler.

It is always very important to make sure that you know their body type & lingerie size ahead of going to the shops. The most appropriate way to identify what the best lingerie products are produced for them is to learn about their body form so that you know what specific type of lingerie would help to accentuate the lovely sections of their body and keep people?s stare away from the parts of theirs body that make them feel nervous. Find affordable, gorgeous and stylish women’s lingerie and cut out swimsuits from designers such as Sunflair, Gok Wan, Gottex, Seafolly, Moontide and Miracle Suit.

There are mainly 3 specific lingerie sizes: thin, medium and size plus. The lingerie size that would complement a specific person is down to their body form. Their body size would additionally help determine the specific selection of ladies lingerie that would be great for them, for example a garter set for somebody who has slender, narrow hips & undersized breasts or a halter bra for someone who has trouble with small busts.

It is important to know ahead of going shopping the exact regions of their body that they would like to be improved or highlighted with a specific womens lingerie item. For example push-up pads for the corsets or bra would support someone who wants their bosom to give the impression of being considerably larger, whilst a person with a pair of gorgeous long legs would look lovely with long stockings.

Blessed are. In our life we become poor in spirit at one time or
another. We see many changes in our lives from birth to our
death. But in between we see the hope of our salvation and the
promises of eternal life thru Jesus Christ. Mat 5:3 Blessed are
the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed
are the poor in spirit; These are the people that are convinced
of sin and unrighteousness, which are willing to accept the
truth about themselves. Understanding that there is no hope
without a saviour, a intercessor a guide to God. Mat 5:4 Blessed
are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. Isa 61:3 To
appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty
for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise
for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of
righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be
glorified. These are the people that have compassion on others,
who love all even if they are not loved. Those that cry over
sin, knowing that sin will eventually bring in destruction. Mat
5:5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
These are the people that do not resist the evil in this world
but return Love for hate. Giving understanding to those that are
without understanding and accepting persecution without trying
to recompense the evil that is done unto them. Mat 5:6 Blessed
are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for
they shall be filled. These are the people that have a great
desire to learn about God. Their hunger for the word will be
filled and the righteousness that man is in lack of will be
bestowed upon them from the Father. For mans righteousness is as
filthy rags before God. Mat 5:7 Blessed are the merciful: for
they shall obtain mercy. Those that give mercy to others in lew
of debt and obligation will also receive mercy from the Father
for their debt and obligation. God looked beyond our faults and
found our needs. Mat 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they
shall see God. Pure; 1. Separate from all heterogeneous or
extraneous matter; clear; free from mixture; as pure water; pure
clay; pure sand; pure air; pure silver of gold. 2. Free from
moral defilement; without spot; not sullied or tarnished;
incorrupt; undebased by moral turpitude; holy Thou art of purer
eyes than to behold evil. Hab 1. Prov 20 3. Genuine; real; true;
incorrupt; unadulterated; as pure religion. James 1 4. Unmixed;
separate from any other subject or from every thing foreign. 5.
Free from guilt; guiltless; innocent 6. Not vitiated with
improper or corrupt words or phrases; as a pure style of
discourse or composition 7. Disinterested; as pure benevolence
8. Chaste; as a pure virgin 9. Free from vice or moral
turpitude. Titus 1 10. Ceremonially clean; unpolluted. Ezra 6
11. Free from any thing improper; as, his motives are pure 12.
Mere; absolute; that and that only; unconnected with any thing
else; as a pure villain. He did that from pure compassion, or
pure good nature. To be able to see God while in the flesh is
almost impossible, even Moses only could view Gods hinder parts,
but in the spirit all will see the face of God, either as Judge
or as Friend. Mat 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they
shall be called the children of God. These are the people that
strive for peace, weather it be on a national scale or on a
person to person scale. Mat 5:10 Blessed are they which are
persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of
heaven. There are so many Christians that are being persecuted
around the world today, as with Paul, these people are in danger
of robbers and even their own countrymen. Many are being
imprisoned, shot, beaten and killed for their testimony of Jesus
Christ. Mat 5:11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and
persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you
falsely, for my sake. The word Blessed in Hebrew means Happy.
Happy are you that are reviled, persecuted, and falsely accused
of evil. This world is coming to an end. Men seek righteousness
in all the wrong places. They seek to be self-righteous,
self-justified, but still they all fall short. A Christian is
happy for they are, called, Justified, Glorified and
predestined. Rom 8:30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he
also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and
whom he justified, them he also glorified. Barnes states; Rom
8:30 - Moreover … - In this verse, in order to show to
Christians the true consolation to be derived from the fact that
they are predestinated, the apostle states the connection
between that predestination and their certain salvation. The one
implied the other. Whom he did predestinate - All whom he did
predestinate. Them he also called - Called by his Spirit to
become Christians. He called, not merely by an external
invitation, but in such a way as that they in fact were
justified. This cannot refer simply to an external call of the
gospel, since those who are here said to be called are said also
to be justified and glorified. The meaning is, that there is a
certain connection between the predestination and the call,
which will be manifested in due time. The connection is so
certain that the one infallibly secures the other. He justified
- Not that he justified them from eternity, for this was not
true; and if it were, it would also follow that he glorified
them from eternity, which would be an absurdity. It means that
there is a regular sequence of events - the predestination
precedes and secures the calling; and the calling precedes and
secures the justification. The one is connected in the purpose
of God with the other; and the one, in fact, does not take place
without the other. The purpose was in eternity. The calling and
justifying in time. Them he also glorified - This refers
probably to heaven. It means that there is a connection between
justification and glory. The one does not exist without the
other in its own proper time; as the calling does not subsist
without the act of justification. This proves, therefore, the
doctrine of the perseverance of the saints. There is a
connection infallible and ever existing between the
predestination and the final salvation. They who are subjects of
the one are partakers of the other. That this is the sense is
clear, (1)	Because it is the natural and obvious meaning of the
passage. (2)	because this only would meet the design of the
argument of the apostle. For how would it be a source of
consolation to say to them that whom God foreknew he
predestinated, and whom he predestinated he called, and whom he
called he justified, and whom he justified “might fall away and
be lost forever?” Can we now understand the meaning of these
scriptures? Can we see the infallibility of Gods plan of
Salvation? I believe we can. Happy are you, who seek out
Salvation, Justification and Glorification thru the word of God
by your faith in His Son Jesus the Christ. Our debt to God was
paid by Jesus on the Cross and our obligation to God is clear By
a new and living way, which he hath consecrated (Solemnly
dedicated to or set apart for a high purpose) for us, through
the veil,(Make undecipherable or imperceptible by obscuring or
concealing) that is to say, his flesh; Rom 12:1 I beseech you
therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your
bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is
your reasonable(Showing reason or sound judgment) service. Tit
3:3 For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient,
deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice
and envy, hateful, and hating one another. Our consecration was
not in the flesh which we were all guilty of unrighteousness but
rather in the spirit which God recognizes as His. For God
created all things visible and invisible, is it not reasonable
that God can do what He wills with that which He has created?

Through The Tunnel by Martin Brofman, Ph.D. A Personal Account of NDE by a Walk-In I was at the Episcopal Hospital in Philadelphia. I had just been told that I had a “blockage” in my spinal cord, from the fourth to the seventh cervical vertebrae at the level of the neck, that had been responsible for the symptoms I had been experiencing. My right arm was paralyzed, my legs were spastic, and there were sensations like electric shocks running through my body when I moved my head.

I was told that I had to have an operation immediately, and that if I lived through the operation, I might come out of it a quadriplegic. When I asked if I had time for a second opinion, I was told that if I coughed or sneezed at that time, I might die. Naturally, I agreed to have the operation in a few hours.

I realized that according to what the doctors had said, I might be dead in a few hours. I went through the stages that many people go through when they know they are about to die. First, there was the sense that this was a movie set, and that these things were not really happening to me. I found myself negotiating with what was happening, bargaining if I could, for something different to happen. Slowly, the realization that it was real, and happening to me, came closer and closer, until I had to emotionally accept that I might very soon be dead.

When I accepted the unacceptable, my body shook violently as an intensity of energy moved through me. I opened more and more to it, and after one or two very long minutes it was complete. I felt a calm inside that I had not known before. All my senses were sharper. My vision was clearer. Colors were brighter. Hearing was clearer. Sensations were more alive.

I realized that I had released a perceptual filter that had been standing between me and the experience of life, and ironically, it had been the fear of death. Now that I had released that fear, I was experiencing more of life, more of being alive, even if just for a short while longer.

I thought of the life I had lived, and the things I could have done but didn’t, and I found myself saying to myself, “I wish I had.” There were a lot of “I wish I hads.” I thought to myself that it was, in fact, a sad way to end a life, and that if I had to do it again, there would be a lot of “I’m glad I dids.” I had to decide what I wanted to do with the short time I had left. If I spent my remaining time worrying or feeling bad about what was, in fact, inevitable, I would have just wasted the rest of my life, thrown it away, and it was too valuable for that.

I decided to spend my remaining time feeling good, and just thinking of things that helped me to feel good - the color of the paint on the walls, the smell of flowers in the room, anything positive. I knew I could always find something.

Finally, the time came. I was taken to the operating room, and as I was being given the anesthetic, I thought that this might be the last experience I would ever have. I had no idea what might come afterwards. I had been agnostic, with no beliefs, believing in nothing that I had not experienced. Perhaps the next step after death was just oblivion. I let go.

I began to experience a vertigo, a sense of spinning, and it didn’t feel good, so I stabilized myself in the center of it until I was still, and everything else was spinning around me. I was moving through the spinning scenes, which were memories from the life I had lived, memories which were calling for my attention. If I put my attention on them, though, I felt myself “pulled,” because I was moving through these spinning memories, like being pulled through a tunnel, or falling down a well, but discovering that half-way down the well. Reaching for the walls would not work. My only hope would be to aim for the water at the bottom.

I had to withdraw my attention from these scenes, then, these memories, and put my attention on the place to which I was being drawn, aiming for it. I was headed there anyway, but aiming for it gave me more of a sense of being in the driver’s seat, and that was a lot more comfortable for me. It was a bit like riding a roller coaster in the front car, and pretending that you’re driving the thing along the tracks. It gives a totally different ride, I can assure you, than being swept out of control.

The ride was long, but I had nothing else to do but go for it. Finally, the end of the tunnel was in sight. I came out into a kind of space, a stillness, where there was a glow of energy addressing me. It was like a spark of life, energy glowing with intelligence, not in a human form, just pure consciousness. It seemed that some distance away, there was another spark just observing the scene.

I felt as though I were having an exit interview, something like, “Well, your trip is over now, so complete things in your consciousness about that, and we’ll move on.” I looked back and saw my life as I had lived it, completed my thoughts about things that had happened, understood a lot of things differently, and then expressed that I was ready. The Being began to move away. I began to follow, and then I paused. The Being quickly asked me what the thought was that had just entered my consciousness. I had thought that it would be a shame for my daughters to have grown up without their father in their life. I had spent a large part of my life without my father in it, and I would have liked my daughters to not have to have experienced that. Anyway, I was ready to go. The Being said that because my reason for wanting to return was somebody outside myself, I would be allowed to return. Before I had the chance to express that I didn’t really want to return, there was a rapid, confused movement, something happened, the other spark which had been “observing” was somehow a part of it, and then I was waking up in this body, in traumatic pain, with intense drama going on around me in the hospital. I felt as if I had just jumped into a movie that had been underway, but that I had not been the one in the body before this moment. Because of the trauma and the drama, my attention was directed to things happening in the physical world, and the memory of what had happened before was somehow obliterated. I had other things happening which were demanding my attention, and besides, I did not have the belief systems that would allow me to accept what had just happened.

Over the next year, I began to explore ideas and philosophies I had no experience of before. I read books like “Life After Life,” and “Life After Death,” and other writings which described what people called, “Near Death Experiences,” and I began to remember what had happened. I saw the similarities to what others had experienced, and I knew then what had happened to me. I thought also of the similarities to what we consider the “normal” birth process, where babies are born into bright lights and loud sounds and being slapped, and perhaps, their attention is so much directed to outer things that they forget their inner experiences just before the process of being born.

>From time to time, I meet others who have made the trip, and we compare notes. “What was it like for you?” One woman said that before, she was certain there would be a Being on the other side with a big book, looking at what she had and had not done, and making checks and crosses, good marks and bad marks. When she got to the other side, there really was a Being there with a big book, just as she thought there would be. The only bad marks she got, though, were for the things that she hadn’t done. Her only sin was self-denial.

My diagnosis on leaving the hospital was “Spinal Cord Tumor.” There was no treatment possible. I was given one or two months to live, and I decided to do that living my new philosophy of “I’m glad I did.” I decided to work on myself, working in my consciousness to release the tumor. Later, the doctors decided that they must have made a mistaken diagnosis.

But that’s another story.
